Grace is a Medical Scientist in the field of coagulation research. Her research is focused on the impact of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia on platelet function, including the effects of drugs used; reversal agents for direct anticoagulants and testing for thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.

Joining PBI

After many years working in the coagulation laboratory at Royal Perth Hospital, her passion for research led her to join PBI’s Translational Research Team based at Murdoch University in 2015. 

As a female researcher working to change future blood disease outcomes, Grace plays a huge role in providing innovative educational opportunities and discussion for health professionals across the world. So in support of women in science, we would like to share Grace's achievements with our supporters.

		Accolades Grace represents PBI at conferences around the world presenting research in cities such as Berlin, Boston, Geneva, and Montpellier, connecting with scientists she has worked collaboratively with. In 2018 she had the opportunity to run a two-day workshop in Kuala Lumpur to train registrars and residents on the basics of coagulation testing; she describes this as a career highlight.
	She holds an Honorary Research Associate position at Murdoch University and places great importance on sharing her knowledge, generously donating her time to educate and supervise students at the University. Grace is also instrumental in organising the Year 11 & 12 Medical Science Encounter workshops hosted by PBI.
		Grace has served on the council of the Thrombosis & Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ) for 12 years, where she was responsible for organising medical education workshops for scientists, doctors, nurses, and medical students. She also sat on the organising committee for the HAA 2014 Conference and the BLOOD 2019 Conference, both held in Perth.

Currently Grace serves on the THANZ Education committee, an online coagulation unit of study developed for medical staff. Grace is also involved in developing a short course for scientists.
