Dr Maan Alwan MBChB FRACP FRCPA
Haematologist / Clinical Lead

Dr Maan Alwan is a dual qualified clinical and laboratory haematologist. He completed his specialist training at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Dr Alwan has clinical interest in both malignant and non-malignant haematology. He is also strongly involved in clinical trials and research in myeloma, lymphoma, thrombosis and haemostasis as a clinical investigator at Perth Blood Institute.
 
Dr Alwan’s private consulting rooms are based at Western Haematology & Oncology Clinics in West Perth, and he also provides consulting and clinical services at Hollywood Private Hospital in Nedlands. Dr Alwan is also a part-time laboratory haematologist at Western Diagnostic Pathology.


Professor Ross Baker MBBS BMedSc FRACP FACP FRCPA
Haematologist / Clinical Trials Investigator

Founding Director of PBI, Consultant Haematologist Professor Ross Baker has led large international clinical trials and clinical research in blood disorders including thrombosis, leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and haemophilia. He has authored over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and is a renowned international speaker. He is a founding director and secretary of the Australasian Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis and served as scientific advisor to the World Health Organisation on DVT in 2001.


 

Dr Melita Cirillo MBBS (Hons) FRACP FRCPA
Haematologist / Clinical Trials Investigator

Dr Melita Cirillo is a consultant haematologist currently practicing at Royal Perth Hospital and Western Haematology and Oncology Clinics. Dr Cirillo has particular research interests in haematological malignancies, including lymphoma, myeloma, and leukaemia, and has extensive experience in the field of liquid biopsy. Her primary consultative interests are in obstetric haematology, as well as bleeding and clotting disorders.

Dr Cirillo was awarded the AMAWA Junior Doctor of the Year in 2015 for her work in teaching and training junior doctors. Dr Cirillo has received research grants from the WA Cancer Oncology Group, the WA Health Research Registrar Program, and the Medical Research Foundation at RPH. She has been a lead investigator on several trials at RPH and brings her experience in the field to Perth Blood Institute as a clinical trials investigator.  


 

Dr Peter Tan MBBS (Hons) FRACP FRCPA
Haematologist / Clinical Trials Investigator

Dr Peter Tan is a consultant haematologist with a particular research interest in haematological malignancies, including acute myeloid leukaemia. Dr Tan is a clinical trials investigator for the Perth Blood Institute, where he is the principal or co-investigator on numerous clinical trials. He is also an investigator with the Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group, where he is the co-principal investigator for the study entitled ‘A strategy of high-dose lenalidomide in combination with epigenetic therapies for relapsed and refractory AML (ALLG AML M17)’.
