Who we are Our team Board Board Professor Ross Baker MBBS BMedSc FRACP FACP FRCPA (Chair) Founding Director of PBI, Consultant Haematologist Professor Ross Baker has led large international clinical trials and clinical research in blood disorders including thrombosis, leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and haemophilia. He has authored over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and is a renowned international speaker. He is a founding director and secretary of the Australasian Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis and served as scientific advisor to the World Health Organisation on DVT in 2001. Pina Caffarelli MBus FCA CTA Pina Caffarelli’s professional accounting and tax career spans over 30 years. A principal of Caffarelli & Associates, she serves on a number of boards including the Cancer Council of WA. A chartered accountant (CAANZ) providing taxation, accounting, auditing and specialist advice, Pina also holds a Master of Business (Accounting/law), Chartered Tax Advisor (Taxation Institute) and is a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand. Bruce Fielding BBus FCA Bruce is a chartered accountant and founding Director of PBI. Following his retirement as Managing Director of Nexia Perth in 2012, Bruce has been engaged as an external CFO, management mentor and board member in several businesses ranging from transport, professional & financial services, information technology and mining services. He currently also serves as the Chair of the CEO Institute. Emeritus Professor David Macey BSc (Hons) PhD A retired Professor of Animal Physiology, David is a contributing author to over 100 research papers. Prior to his retirement, David held the positions of Director of Admissions to the Chancellery at Murdoch University, Faculty Dean and Pro Vice Chancellor: Science and Engineering and Academic Chair for Medicine. He is currently Emeritus Professor at Murdoch and actively contributes to teaching and research at both Murdoch and Notre Dame Universities. Chris Smailes B Juris LLB Chris Smailes is a lawyer and partner in global services firm EY, and heads the Private Client Law practice for EY Law in Oceania, with lawyers in Perth and the eastern States. Chris has authored and presented over 200 papers and presentations to professional, industry and client bodies. He has been active on a number of boards and committees including the Tax Institute and The Australian Superannuation Funds Association.
