In 1999 Justin was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden, which is an inherited blood clotting disorder. He experienced his first blood clot when he was 38 years of age and spent a lengthy five months in hospital as a result. At the time, Factor V Leiden was reasonably unknown which made his condition difficult to treat.

Surviving his first clot was very challenging. He had no warning signs that it was coming and now he is very aware of his diet and keeping healthy. He now wears a medic alert and needs to wear orthotic shoes.  He has since learnt how to live with distended veins and since participating in a new treatment program lives a normal life.
“Greater awareness is needed” Justin

Justin wishes people knew that if something is not working for you, get medical assistance and ask your doctor for alternatives.
