Medical Science Encounter workshops are held twice a year at our Murdoch University research facilities. These workshops provide students with the opportunity to step into the shoes of a scientist. Student numbers are limited to support a hands-on approach and each
workshop includes up to five 30-minute laboratory sessions on a range of topics.

At the October 2019 Workshop, participants enjoyed the opportunity to actively engage in experiments using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, under the guidance of our research scientists.

Students conducted a range of experiments including gene cloning, flow cytometry, ABO blood group typing and bioluminescence for research.

Afterwards, students commented on how interesting and useful they found the workshop and the information provided regarding different career paths.

I enjoyed how practical this workshop was. The balance between theory and practical was spot on.” Kynen (Bunbury Catholic College)
